Having conflict with others is difficult, and can impact your quality of life. When separating, this is the case whether you are the person leading it or the person dealing with that choice. For both partners, it is easy to feel like you don't have control over your future. For individuals in other disputes, conflict can actually affect your enjoyment of your employment. We believe that separating families want the clarify of a block fee package that will allow them to control the cost and plan for the expense and we offer several choices to both clients and legal counsel. Clients requesting mediation have the ability to choose the package that will work best for them. Packages are described below. BRONZE PACKAGE $1,500





If you have relatively low conflict between you and want to mediate to work out parenting, support and some simpler property like deciding on your matrimonial home, with related issues, this package provides enough time for most people to do that. Once you have resolved the issues, you will receive a written Mediation Report. You can choose whether to hire a lawyer of your choosing to incorporate those terms into a formal Separation Agreement, or you can choose to use the terms from the Report to create your own Agreement, signing in front of witnesses to make it binding. Jennifer will discuss this with you further in your appointments and guide you in this process. We also have a list of lawyers that will help you do this.


This package includes:

  • Private intake session for each client
  • Up to two joint sessions of approximately two hours each
  • Drafting of a Mediation Report and any progress notes
  • Additional sessions can be purchased as needed








SILVER PACKAGE $2,500





When there are more complicated issues, such as more than one home, pensions, businesses, or spousal support disagreements, and/or a higher degree of conflict, this package provides additional time to work through those issues. You may have already hired counsel who will either attend the joint session or support you in the background, or even if one party has done this, this package provides additional hours for communicating with the lawyers or other professionals and assisting you with the financial disclosure required to support your agreement.


This package includes:

  • private intake session with each client
  • review of any Mediation Briefs and any financial disclosure prior to the joint session
  • Up to two joint sessions of up to three hours each, or three shorter sessions
  • Discussions with the lawyers or other professionals to resolve any outstanding issues between or after sessions
  • Drafting of Mediation Report that will be incorporated into an Agreement by your lawyer or one you select to hire
  • Additional sessions can be purchased as needed


GOLD PACKAGE $4,600





Our Gold Package provides the Silver level service with the addition of providing a specially trained family lawyer for each client. These lawyers will support your goal of working things out in mediation and staying amicable and keeping fees low and fixed. This package will provide you with the mediation time you need to resolve issues, and then each of you with one of the lawyers from our network to complete the drafting of the Separation Agreement and signing.


This package includes:


  • Private intakes sessions for each client
  • Review of any Mediation Briefs and any financial disclosure prior to the joint session
  • Up to two joint sessions of up to three hours each, or three shorter sessions
  • Discussions with the lawyers to resolve any outstanding issues
  • Drafting of the Mediation Report
  • Connection to a lawyer from our network at the beginning of the process for a pre-mediation session and then following for the drafting of the Separation Agreement and signing


The Mediation Process






START THE PROCESS


If you are ready to mediate please email jocelyn@suzormediation.com (link is below) and she will obtain contact information for each of you and send you a confidential intake form for each to complete as well as arrange your appointments.



RETAINER ARRANGEMENTS


The clients and mediator will sign an Agreement to Mediate that confirms that you are in a confidential process and sets out the details and arrangements. This document is sent out by Adobe for signatures digitally. We prefer payment by e-transfer but other arrangements can be made.



INTAKE SESSION


Each client will have their own private intake session so that they can get to know the Mediator and she can learn what is important to them, what they are looking for, and understand a bit about their personality and conflict resolution style.



JOINT SESSION(s)


We are currently mediating on the Zoom platform online. Instructions will be provided. Even on Zoom, clients can either be in "one room" or in separate rooms. Part of your intake process is the mediator determining what would work best for you.


NEXT STEPS


After the mediation is complete and your Mediation Report is prepared, what will happen next depends on your package. The mediator will go over these steps with you at that time.
